What is a kiss to you? Is it something that means alot to you? Does it touch your soul? Or is a kiss just a kiss?
You can tell so much about how a person is feeling by a kiss. Short and g-rated, brotherly... or did that "brotherly" friend linger a split second longer than necessary? Did s/he leave you wondering if that kiss meant much more than the words that were not said? Did that kiss goodbye this morning not linger long enough making you wonder what is going on that you just can't put your finger on?
Some people think that a kiss is just a kiss... there is nothing meant by it, there is nothing gained or lost... Other people feel that a kiss is a highly inappropriate way to greet or depart from a friend that is not your significant other or close family member. Some people fall in between. I fall in between. While I believe that kissing is the most intimate gesture between two people who are in love, I also believe that a kiss to my best friend when arriving or departing is exactly that: just a kiss. Of course, if he lingered intimately, I would definitely wonder what he isn't telling me.... which brings to point the amount of things you can say or hear from a kiss without a word being uttered.
We all know the jittery feelings and nervousness we felt while waiting for our first kiss with every person we ever dated. I always knew that kiss would tell me if this person is someone I can spend my life with. I would also know from that kiss if we had any chemistry to be able to move forward on, or if the sparks weren't there, it was ok to let go and let it fizzle out. Tell me, then, to you, What Is A Kiss?
